Our new XC series bumpers are made from steel, yes we said steel. Now before you think "steel is too strong" or "steel is too heavy", we have specifically engineered this bumper to be within 1 pound of the aluminum equivalent bumper, but while gaining about 15% more strength than the aluminum equivalent. We have also made it friendly for repairs. Let's face it, XC racers have a lot of small hits that destroy bumpers when they shouldn't. Low speed impacts with trees, rocks, ruts, and other riders cause many XC racers to go through multiple bumpers per year, which is expensive ! Aluminum bumpers tend to crack and not bend much. Steel can bend much further than aluminum and still be bent back without breaking. Steel can also be fixed by simple welding techniques in many home garages where as aluminum takes skill and special equipment to weld. All these combinations make this a perfect bumper for XC racing ! If you are still prone to aluminum bumpers, no worries, we also offer this bumper in aluminum. Our bumpers came standard in gloss black powder, but there is also the ability to get gloss white, Yamaha blue, and custom powder colors.
