The YFZ450R "Big 3" upgrade is and should always be your first performance-based upgrade. The "Big 3" is an exhaust, intake, and tune. We have several options for the "Big 3" packages depending on your budget, goals, and future build plans. The options available are:
"E" Series Kit - Yoshi RS2 Full System, Pro-Design Intake Kit, OEM ECU flashed with a custom tune - budget friendly, trail riders, entry level racing
"E+" Series Kit - Yoshi RS2 Full System, Pro-Design Intake Kit, Vortex ECU (can be custom tuned) - trail riders, mid-level engine race builds
"X" Series Kit - Yoshi RS2 Full System, Fuel Customs Full GNCC Intake / Box Kit, Vortex ECU - full race engines, mid to high level builds
"XXX" Series Kit - Empire Exhaust system (custom options available), Fuel Customs Full GNCC Intake / Box, Vortex ECU - high HP, high compression, big bore, and stroker motors - this kit can handle any engine upgrades you will ever have planned
If you are planning engine upgrades in the future (head work, pistons, cams, etc.) then we definitely recommend picking up a kit with a vortex. It's more money up-front, but it will be needed down the road for the serious engine upgrades
When choosing the components for these kits, we have selected all highly proven parts. Yoshi has been proven by many builders to be a great exhaust system for making good power without spending a fortune on those big bore pipes. Yoshi also is slightly quieter than those big bore systems on the market. You can't go wrong with a Yoshi. On the other side of the exhaust world, we choose to use Empire pipes. We have used Empire exhausts for years and the form, fit, and function is top notch. They make incredible power and have a really nice product selection. Yes, there are other worthy big bore pipes on the market, but our choice has always been Empire.
The Pro-Design intake kits are great for getting rid of those stock air filters and opening up your machines breathing ability. Pro-Design filters also have been proven at the highest levels to keep debris out of your engine. Upgrading to the Fuel Customs system is a highly proven intake upgrade. These system have proven time and time again on many different dynos to make incredible power. Plus, now with the GNCC kits, you get a full air box that keeps the extra debris away from the intake system.
Lastly, a Vortex ECU is a no brainer. They have proven to be the only option for making serious power. Other "tuners" simply add fuel trims. The Vortex is the only full ECU that's proven worthy for these machines. No matter which kit you select, know that we have only paired the best components available together when developing these options.
